DALLAS: Senior Kashmiri leader urges and Acting Chairman of JKLF Raja Muzaffar has appealed to the Indian and Pakistani delegations present in the United States to pursue a peaceful resolution for lasting regional peace.

In a passionate appeal addressed to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari — head of the Pakistani delegation, and Shashi Tharoor — head of the Indian delegation, who are in the US to convey their respective stances on the recent standoff between the two countries, Muzaffar urged the leaderships of the both sides to move forward with courage and foresight, as bold leadership at this critical moment can change the course of the future.

Declaring Kashmir as the foundation for brotherly relations, Muzaffar stated:

“Sustainable peace in Kashmir is the key that can open the window to resolution.”

He reminded both sides that resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue holds fundamental importance and can pave the way for settling other conflicts as well.

Highlighting the historical context, Muzaffar called for the revival of the trilateral dialogue, suspended since 1964, so that meaningful discussions can resume.

He proposed that Yasin Malik be recognized as the legitimate representative of the Kashmiri people’s aspirations for freedom, and advocated for negotiations modeled after those held with Sheikh Abdullah in the past.

Muzaffar also urged the leaders of both nations to distance themselves from extremism and embrace dialogue as the only path to success.

“Only through negotiations can we move towards a peaceful and prosperous future.”
